Call for Papers | Inquiries: Doing Research in the Humanities

The Doctoral School in Literary Studies, the PhD Program in English, Irish, and American Literatures and the Department of English Literatures and Cultures at the University of Pécs, the organisers of Inquiries, invite PhD scholars to present on the methodological issues of their individual research for the PhD. The topics to be covered by the presentations should belong to the general field of the humanities and discuss the difficulties the presenter faces or faced when working towards the PhD.

Topics may include, but are not restricted to, the following:

• understanding and working with social, cultural, political contexts in the humanities
• use value of theoretical concepts and protocols of reading
• mediatised access (manuscripts, databases, digital corpora)
• questions of reading and interpretation
• historical, cultural, social, political differences informing research.

Abstracts of 250 words for 20-minute presentations, together with a short bio of 80 words, should be sent to inquiries.conference.2024@gmail.com by 15th February. Notification of acceptance should come no later than 15th March 2023.
